St Peter's Church
St Peter's, built in 1932, is the parish church. It enjoys a prominent position at the heart of the estate on the main A217 road between Mitcham and Rose Hill (Bishopsford Road, near the junction with Middleton Road; please see the map for our location). It is well-known to passers-by because of the rather garish 1970s mural that adorns its front. However, inside it is a light and airy building, looking a lot nicer on the inside than on the outside!
St Peter's has two congregations that meet every Sunday, at 9.30am and 11.15am. These services are different in style, with the 9.30am is quiet and reflective with traditional hymns, and the 11.15am more informal with lively songs, a crèche room and Junior Church for under 16's.
Both congregations seek to worship God regardless of the style of worship, and throughout the year there are several joint services, as well as social events that link up the 2 congregations. We are a multi-cultural church, reflecting more and more the diversity within the St Helier estate and the surrounding areas.
